While wandering around the BBC site, I came across their History Multimedia Zone. Here they have everything from video and audio clips to virtual trips through a WWI trench to a series of online games. While most of the games are rather simplistic, they are interactive and could be used as an introduction to capture kids attention. I found the Who Wants to be a Cotton Millionaire? game and the Battle of Waterloo to be the ones that I would find most useful in my classroom.

The cotton game focuses the industrial revolution and what a factory owner had to decide in order to make a profit. This works well to show how making a profit wasn't always that easy and sometimes there were sacrifices that had to be made (and usually the owners weren't the ones doing the most sacrificing). The Battle of Waterloo allows you to be the British or the French and gives you a series of decisions to make. Make the right decisions and even Napoleon can win!
