Stupid Research Questions

In an article in the October, 2003 edition of his on-line newsletter, Play for Performance , Thiagi writes about the effectiveness of instructional games compared with other training methods. His response to the question of which is better can be summed up by the title of the article, “Stupid Research Questions.” He says that comparing training games and other training methods is like comparing apples and oranges. Both are “better” in certain situations and less appropriate in others. In comparing different training methods, it is critical to consider the purpose of the training and the nature of the participants, something to remember in any type of instructional design project.
