Details magazine published an article on video games and obsession in its October 2007 edition. "Are Video Games the New Cocaine?" explores the idea that video games have replaced drugs as the addiction of choice for some people. Though psychologists argue whether gaming is technically an addiction, playing can meet some of the criteria of addiction.

Thank you Angie. I teach middle school and have parents who ask me the question if I think video games are addictive. It is great to have an article to back up my advice as a teacher to turn off the video games and do more homework.
