Museum of Jurassic Technology

The Museum of Jurassic Technology is located in Los Angeles California and is an educational institution devoted the advancement and public appreciation of the lower Jurassic. It is geared not only to the academic looking to do scientific research, but also the general public. It gives visitors a “hands-on” view of Jurassic Technology. It puts an emphasis on the strange and unusual.

It tells the story of the Stink Ant of Cameroon. It sniffs in a fungus spore from the jungle floor which causes it to grow a large tubular formation on its back which in turn causes it change its behavior. It climbs trees, something its never done before, and sits on end of the limb of a tree until it dies. We also hear stories of bees which symbolically represent a person’s soul. Plato’s notion of the transmigration of souls holds that souls of quiet, sober people untinctured by philosophy come back to life as bees. Later, Mahomet, admitted bees, as souls to paradise. There are also several more modern stories to the same effect. The museum is chock full of such weird creatures and legends.
