I don't see any difference except that someone over 17 can still rent the game for someone else who is under 17 - similar to the alcohol thing. My take is that laws and enforcement are simply one aspect of a really huge issue that has many dimensions to it -- as you all in the game violence webquest are discovering. Core to it all, it's necessary to answer the questions - what's too much violence in a game? and why someone under 17 should not be playing such a game? But WHO is supposed to answer these questions? Isn't this something that parents should be discussing among themselves and maybe even with their kids as part of an ongoing conversation.
